Group Exercise

Group Exercise is included in your membership at no additional cost, excluding Martial Arts. Current Campus Recreation and Wellness Center members show an active Cougar One or Membership card when signing up for a class at the Welcome Desk. We offer a variety of aerobic, water, conditioning classes. Most classes are approximately 60 minutes in length, please review schedule for more class information.

Fall semester group fitness classes will begin on Monday, August 30.

Group Exercise Classes Policies

Please help us reduce your risk of injury and create an enjoyable exercise experience for all participants by following these guidelines:
- 5 minute rule: Participants may enter a class up to five minutes after the scheduled start. Entrance is prohibited after five minutes have passed to ensure that all participants arrive early enough to become sufficiently warmed up for the vigorous parts of each class.
- Class sizes are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis. A pass is required.
- A pass is received at the welcome desk, and sign-in is required.
- Some classes have a large attendance, please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to class to ensure entrance into class. Passes WILL NOT BE DISTRIBUTED after the 5 minute time frame has elapsed. If you are in line at 5 after, you will not receive a pass. PLEASE arrive early.
- Please be prepared to give your pass to your instructor at the BEGINNING of class when entering these classes.
- If you need to leave class early, please inform the instructor.
- Please inform the instructor if you have any special considerations (e.g., pregnancy, injury, illness, recent surgery) which may influence your ability to take a class.
- Proper athletic footwear should be worn in fitness classes.

Group Cycling Class Policies

- Participants MUST bring a towel and water bottle to EVERY class.
- We encourage cycling participants to arrive at least 5-minutes before class to allow time for proper set up on bikes.
- This is for your safety and the safety of the class. Participants are not allowed in a class after 5-minutes have passed.
- Our bikes have SPD clips. Participants are welcome to bring cycling shoes that clip into our pedals, but may NOT remove the pedals and insert their own clips.

Multi-Purpose Room Policies

All multipurpose rooms are available for use when not reserved for a class, or a group. Most reservations are posted on the door of the room.
- No tumbling is allowed in the rooms
- Be considerate to others using the space; do not “blare” your music
- Do not pull partitions in the room without consent of a Fitness Zone supervisor
- No food or non water beverage is allowed in these rooms. If you are caught eating in these rooms, you will be asked to leave.
- When dancing, only rubber bottom shoes are allowed.
- If there is any incident in the room you are using, ie someone gets hurt or something gets broken, please contact a supervisor immediately. The sooner we know of an issue the sooner it can be fixed.
