Campus Recreation conducts private and semi-private (maximum of 2 individuals) lessons for all ages. This allows the instructor to personalize sessions to fit your individual needs as well as your schedule. Private lessons are 30 minutes long for pre-school age participants, and 45 minutes long for school age participants (ages 6 and up). You can register for one, four or seven lessons.

Please fill out a Private Swim Lesson Inquiry form and turn it in to the Aquatics office in the Natatorium at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.  Private Lessons are dependent on availability of the instructor and facilities.

Request Process

 

Due to the volume of requests, we are unable to accommodate all of our swim lessons at once. As our instructors are college students and we host aquatic events and facility reservations, we are limited by the schedules and availabilities of both our instructors and facilities. It is our goal to process and begin all lessons as soon as possible without sacrificing the high quality service we strive to provide. In order to keep our members and guests informed, we have outlined the steps we take in processing our lessons:

1.  We receive and overview all requests to perform a preliminary assessment of the goals and requests of the applicant
2. We contact our instructors and provide them with the information about the number of lessons as well as times and days requested
3. Within 2 business days, an instructor is assigned based on availability
4. Once the instructor is assigned, they have a minimum of 2 business days to contact the applicant and set up the lesson schedule

 In the event that an instructor is not immediately available, Private Swim Lesson Inquiry forms are filed according to the date in which they were received. We will contact you as soon as possible to let you know your wait status, and will provide updates via email every two weeks on the status of your request. Once an instructor who has a schedule compatible with the requested lesson times becomes available, they will contact our applicants to set up a lesson schedule.

 If you wish to be removed from the waiting list, we require only a simple email stating that you would like to be removed and you will no longer receive updates.

Entrance Policy

ONLY non-member swim lessons PARTICIPANTS may enter through rotunda door. This is in accordance with building-wide facility use policies. All members (and their children) must enter through the ID Check Station. Thank you for your compliance in this matter as we strive to increase safety and customer service at the Campus Recreation Center.

 

Parking

Parking passes may be purchased for $3.00 a day at Entrance 1 for Lot 15G or at the Parking and Transportation Services Office. Metered Parking is available on the west side of CRWC. Information on the parking garage is available at : http://www.uh.edu/cgi-bin/campusmap

 

Registration and Cancellation

Registration and Cancellation closes the Thursday prior to a new session. This assures that we have an accurate count when planning for instructors. Cancellation entails a full refund if requested one week prior to the start date of the class. A refund is also provided with a doctor's note stating you are unable to participate due to health issues.
